 Flexible Grouping

Grouping can positively influence the levels of individual student engagement and academic progress when used effectively (Maheady, 1997).  The links in this section (resources provided by the U.S. Department of Education's First Annual National Reading First Conference) will provide information about the types of groups used in classrooms and how to use them most effectively.

Roxanne Hudson, Ph.D, from the University of Washington presented four times across New York State on the theme of "Differentiating Instruction with Students with Disabilities in Mind". This all day professional development was directed toward teachers and administrators in Reading First buildings.
