The Access Center
The Access Center proposes that access to the general education curriculum occurs when students with disabilities are actively engaged in learning the content and skills that define the general education curriculum. This link will take you to the Reading section of their site where the following content sections are located:
- Professional Development Modules - designed to support the training of trainers, including Facilitator’s Notes, PowerPoint slides, resources, and handouts
- Briefs - short discussions on a topic, often with examples, and supported by research
- Presentations – PowerPoint files or video clips from presentations affiliated with Access Center, also includes relevant handouts
- Webinars – A webinar combines three methods of communication: phone, online presentation, and a chat window for typing questions
- Links – External links to resources and information
The Vaughn Gross Center for Reading and Language Arts is an organized research unit within the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin. The Vaughn Gross Center has resources related to effective, research-based reading instruction for students at all grade level levels including secondary-level students. The professional development guides, videos, CD-ROMs, and booklets address a range of reading topics, including phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Products and publications are accessible in a variety of ways: some may be downloaded.
