On the Go Activities - English and Spanish versions: These 14 activities are designed to encourage parents to interact with their children while they are "on the go" to facilitate language, early literacy and positive parent-shild interactions.  The activities are accompanied by hints for each of the activities about how to modify them to meet the specific developmental needs of the child.

 Growing Readers Monthly Articles

Growing Readers is a free monthly newsletter written especially for parents that offers practical tips for raising strong readers, writers, and learners. The one- or two-page articles are available in both English and Spanish.

Shining Stars Brochures

The National Institute for Literacy, an agency in the Federal government, is authorized to help strengthen literacy across the lifespan. The Institute provides national leadership on literacy issues, including the improvement of reading instruction for children, youth, and adults.  It develops publications for families and educators of learners across the lifespan.  The Shining Stars series provides stories and checklists, organized by developmental stage, for parents to use as a guide to help their children get ready to read and develop strong literacy skills.

Como Ayudar a Su Hijo a Ser un Buen Lector: This Spanish language version of Helping Your Child Become a Reader includes information about why and how to use language skills (talking and listening, reading, and writing) to help young children grow into readers. Also provided are everyday activities to strengthen language skills and encourage your child's love of reading.

La Lectura es el Primero: The Partnership for Reading is pleased to announce the Spanish translation of the popular "Put Reading First: Helping Your Child Learn to Read - A Parent Guide." This brochure provides a quick overview of the findings of the National Reading Panel for parents and gives ideas for what to expect from a school's reading program based on evidence from the research (preschool through grade 3). The brochure also suggests ways parents can reinforce reading instruction at home with everyday activities and interactions.
