Race to the Top is a United States Department of Education grant for states seeking funding to reform education.  In 2010, New York State was awarded $696 million in Race to the Top funds.  This money will go toward creating structures, resources and supports to assist districts in meeting the requirements set forth under each assurance area, known together as "The Four Pillars."
